PastorPastor Robert Schneider was appointed to Northside UMC on July 1st. Pastor Bob was born in New London, NH. He spent 6 years in the Air Force in Dayton, Ohio and got his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He married his high school sweetheart Linda. She got her master’s degree in Education. They spent 25 years in the Washington, DC. Pastor Bob felt the call to ordained ministry in 1998 and attended Wesley Theological Seminary. He is an ordained minister and has served various congregations in Maryland and New Hampshire. Pastor Bob and Linda have 3 adult children all whom live in Maryland, and a yellow lab named Boomer. They love to hike, bike, kayak, read and sit out on the deck with friends and are looking forward to their journey with Northside this year! Please join us either at a Corporation beach service this summer or at our Sunday morning worship service at Northside to welcome our new pastor!
Born in Indiana, Dr. Fred Yarger was educated at The University of Evansville and received his Masters of Divinity Degree from Boston University School of Theology and a Doctrate from Andover-Newton Theological School. He retired from Northside UMC in 2000 after 45 years of Ministry in the New England Annual Conference. He serves as coordinator of Helping Hands and the Katrina Mission Team. He also teaches and preaches occasionally. Pastor Fred's passion is traveling with his lovely wife Barbara, who worked as a
Registered Nurse for 20 years. They have been to 65 countries all across the world! Pastor Fred and Barbara reside in South Dennis.
Assistant to the Pastor
Kate LaCroix joined us in August 2012 as the Assistant to the Pastor to provide leadership in the areas of pastoral support, caring ministries, and community evangelism and outreach. She completed her Masters of Divinity degree in December 2012. She is a native of Cape Cod and is currently working on becoming an ordained elder. In November 2014, Kate was certified as a candidate of ministry with the District Committee on Ministry. Kate also works as a Manager at the Chatham Fish and Lobster Market and if you ever have a question about seafood, she is your girl to see! Kate and her husband, John live in Chatham with their two dogs.
Director of Children and Youth Ministries
Born and raised on Cape Cod, Evy Nickerson graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in 2004 with her Associates in Lay Ministries and in 2006 with her Bachelors majoring in Religion with a minor in Youth Ministry. Evy was hired in 2007 to coordinate our Sunday School, Youth, and family events and activities. Her favorite color is purple, she loves photography & mermaids and also loves to make cupcakes! One of her favorite parts of her job is to watch the children of Northside grow up! Our children and youth programs continue to grow and flourish with all of our wonderful events, activities and adventures!
Kathleen joined us in February 2015. She was born in England and moved to the States when she was a teenager. Kathleen has been married to Scott Johnson for the past 15 years, they have 2 rescue dogs and she is a volunteer for the Animal Rescue League - Brewster branch and The Boxer Rescue out of Grafton Massachusetts. She enjoys to travel, kayaking, researching genealogy, knitting and sewing. She makes dog accessories and sells them at craft fairs and helping other crafters with social media and networking.
Ann Berg serves as our financial secretary. She grew up in the suburbs of Boston where she married her sweetheart, Ken. Together they moved to Beverly and then to Peabody, Massachusetts where they had their 5 beautiful daughters. While living in Peabody, they opened a bakery, The Teahouse Floreal. They often vacationed on the Cape and fell in love with it. When they decided to retire in 2001, they came to Cape Cod! Together, Ken and Ann enjoy playing golf, listening to the Symphony and enjoying the local performing arts. Over the years they have been blessed with 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Soon after Ann arrived to the Cape, she started her position here at Northside. She loves coming here and seeing all the wonderful people living the word of the Lord. Ann says, "This is my piece of heaven on earth" and she will be celebrating 55 years of marriage this September with her husband Ken.
Janet Golden has been the Organist for Northside for the past 23 years and is an active member of our church family. She plans and coordinates the music program for the worship services, including soloists and instrumentalists. Janet has two lovely roommates who are of the feline fashion named Abilene and Bruce. She loves to read and each time you see her, she has a smile on her face! Her favorite hobby is knitting, where she makes wonderful creations. She also serves as a volunteer for Northside’s Nursing Home Ministry, bringing the joy of music to the monthly communion services.
Stephanie Riley is Northside’s Choir Director. She holds a Masters of Music Education from the Hartt School of Music and teaches music at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School where she directs three choirs. She brings her enthusiasm and love of music to glorify His name in our worship services. Stephanie resides in Yarmouth with her husband Pat and two beautiful little girls! She loves mermaids and was once a lifeguard for the town of Yarmouth.
Craig Dimock, a church member, is the man behind the scenes who works diligently and effectively at maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of our church. Craig also plays the guitar and sometimes performs for us in worship, he is very talented! Craig also has two children, a little girl named Carly who is very active in our Sunday School Program and a son who is in his first year of college. Sometimes they even come help Dad clean and beautify the church!
Meet our fabulous Nursery Attendant, Alysa Iafrate Grundy! She joined us in March of 2015. Alysa is 25 years old and is an original Cape Codder from Orleans, Mass. She currently lives in Dennis Port with her lovely husband, Aaron. Alysa started a baby sitting service when she was 12 years old and grew up to pursue a career in child care. She has worked as a full time Nanny for the past three years to two young children, and acts as a part time personal care assistant to a lovely older woman. She loves horseshoe crabs, bull dogs and the color green! She is passionate about early childhood education and sometimes, sings what she is doing! We are thrilled to have Alysa join us this year and we hope you stop by the Nursery to introduce yourself and say "Hey!"
